FMC India has announced its commitment towards COVID-19 relief measures in India, which will focus on enhancing the oxygen supply at hospitals across five states, and running safety awareness campaigns in rural areas to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
Increasing Oxygen Supply
Aragen Life Sciences (formerly, GVK BIO) and FMC Corporation have agreed to get into a strategic partnership. Through this collaboration, Aragen will support FMC's global discovery and development needs, including discovery chemistry, discovery biology, and chemical process development.
FMC Corporation announces the appointment of Mr. Ravi Annavarapu as the new President of FMC India, effective July 1, 2021. Ravi will be responsible for the company's business strategy and performance in India. He will succeed Mr. Pramod Thota, who is taking on the role of president of FMC U.S.A. Annavarapu will report to Ms. Bethwyn Todd, FMC Vice President and President of FMC Asia Pacific.
In line with its commitment to promote sustainable agriculture, FMC India celebrated World Environment Day on June 5th, 2021 with a nation-wide campaign to highlight the value of stewardship among farmers, as well as the planting of trees across the country.
As part of its commitment to stand with the people of India as they continue to fight a devastating second wave of COVID-19, FMC India, has begun to run a multi-channel educational campaign in the countryside to raise overall awareness of the coronavirus and to help curb the spread among rural communities.
FMC Corporation has started harnessing solar energy at it's second manufacturing facility at the Panoli Industrial Estate in the state of Gujarat in India. This is an expansion of solar power usage to the second facility after the successful shift to solar energy at the first facility in April last year.
India has one of the highest arable lands globally with over 155 million hectares (along with the US, China and Brazil) and is one of the key agricultural producers of the world. In 2019, the agricultural sector generated approximately INR 19 lakh crores (USD 265 Billion) business comprising 18% of India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employs more than half of India's population.
FMC launched a multi-year scholarship program to major agricultural schools across eight states in India in April 2021. The FMC Science Leaders Scholarship Program is aimed at creating greater opportunities for aspiring scientists to develop their aptitude in agricultural research.
In-line with its commitment to enhance sustainable agriculture, FMC India celebrated World Water Day on March 22, 2021 by organising more than 400 farmer meetings across 18 states, reaching more than 14,000 people in the farming community throughout the country.
