Bitter gourd

Bittergourd (Momordica charantia) locally known as Ampalaya belongs to the family  Cucurbitaceae and its name is based on its taste. It is widely grown for its edible fruits which are used widely as vegetables in different cuisine. Bittergourd is a very rich source of vitamins like A and C and minerals like iron, magnesium and potassium.
