Effective disease management starts before pathogens have the opportunity to establish. However, weather and field conditions don’t always cooperate when timely applications are needed. The 2025 growing season was marked by warm, humid conditions and consistent rainfall across the Corn Belt, creating the perfect storm for strong foliar disease pressure. FMC developed Xyway® LFR® fungicide to provide season-long foliar disease protection from emergence. From root to tassel, from planting to harvest
Xyway® LFR® is an at-plant or side-dress1 fungicide featuring the active ingredient flutriafol, a systemic, demethylation inhibitor (DMI) fungicide that provides both preventative and curative disease control for inside-out protection throughout the growing season.
Once applied, Xyway® LFR® is absorbed through the roots and moves systemically throughout the plant as it grows. This protection reaches new leaves as they develop, helping defend against key foliar diseases such as gray leaf spot, Northern corn leaf blight, common rust, tar spot2 and more.
Early protection can help preserve root integrity, maintain lower canopy health and support overall plant growth throughout yield establishment periods. With healthier plants from that first sprout, growers can better protect yield potential before damaging diseases can leave their mark.
On its own, Xyway® LFR® may deliver season-long protection against key foliar diseases; however, disease pressure varies from field to field and year to year. During heavy disease years or under late-season disease pressure, growers may see increased ROI from a follow up foliar application.
Consider an application of Adastrio® fungicide
For growers choosing to make a foliar fungicide application, Adastrio® fungicide was developed to deliver premium performance when warm, humid weather conditions prolong disease pressure.
Adastrio® features not one, not two, but three active ingredients:
- Fluindapyr (Group 7)
- Flutriafol (Group 3)
- Azoxystrobin (Group 11)
Fluindapyr is an exclusive SDHI active ingredient, that provides comprehensive disease control, strong residual activity, rust control and reduces abiotic stress during grain fill. Flutriafol is a well-known, highly systemic triazole that delivers preventative and curative disease control, while azoxystrobin disrupts fungal energy production to prevent disease development and spread. Remember, it is important that you do not apply more than 0.228 lb of flutriafol/A per year including at-plant plus foliar applications of other flutriafol products.
With a three-mode-of-action fungicide like Adastrio® , growers can plan for broad-spectrum disease protection across a flexible application window (apply between VT and R3 with up to 30 days of residual activity), helping protect corn against Southern rust, tar spot, Northern corn leaf blight, gray leaf spot and more. This extended protection can help maintain plant health, support photosynthesis and promote greater yield potential through harvest.
For season-long disease management
FMC is committed to providing growers with a range of disease management solutions to meet their unique field needs. Whether growers need early action, at-plant disease protection or timely, late-season protection, Xyway® LFR® and Adastrio® fungicides may be able to help.
