South Africa Sponsors Construction of Cages for Empty Agrochemical Containers Destined for Recycling

As part of an FMC initiative to strengthen its product stewardship, in alignment with the company's sustainability goals, South Africa has partnered with key Distributors throughout the country to construct cages in various areas.

The first cage was constructed in Polokwane and has been in use since June 2021. Two additional cages, one in Ixopo and one in Underberg, were completed and have been operational since December 2021. More cages are planned for Letsitele, Greytown and Dundee.

Along with the construction of the cages, FMC’s Area Managers provide training to farmers and agents on the best practices to be adopted when using crop protection products, the safe disposal of waste and the recycling of empty containers.

FMC is deeply committed to ethical product stewardship by promoting safe, sustainable and ethical use of our products along the product life cycle. Product stewardship connects all the stages of the product life cycle from discovery to product use by the consumer and final disposal of the waste or empty containers. By taking proactive stewardship actions at each stage of the product life cycle, FMC aims to enhance business sustainability.
