Mango Cecid fly (Procontarinia frugivora) is a dipteran pest and is also known as Leaf gall midge, Gall fly and Mango leaf gall. Adult stays on wild vegetation present in the area.
What are the symptoms

Infested fruits manifest randomly distributed circular, brown to black, scab-like spots; commonly termed as 'buti', armalite, 'kurikong', and 'saksak walis'
Impact to the crop

Infestation decreases the quality of produce due to scabby lesions on the surface of the fruit.
Severe damage to fruits can cause fruit to fall.
How to control

√ Field sanitation and pruning of branches
√ Bagging of fruits at 45-50 days after flower induction
√ Application of recommended and registered insecticide
