Leafhopper
Leafhopper or Jaccids (Amrasca biguttula (Ishida)) is a dry season pest and considered one of the most important pests in eggplant.
What are the symptoms
Adult and nymphs cause yellowing of the leaves, followed by crinkling and upward curling; stunting may occur at severe infestation
Damage symptom is caused by toxic saliva that is produced by the leafhopper during feeding
Impact to the crop
Excessive feeding causes drying up of leaves starting at the leaf margin
How to control
√ Plant earlier than the season to prevent infestation of sucking pests at early crop stage; use of resistant varieties
√ Earwig Euborellia annulipes is a potential biocon of leafhopper
√ Use of registered and recommended insecticides
