Further Information
Click to open/close
The shoot borer is a pest that attacks the growing point of plants, particularly in rice and sugarcane. The larvae tunnel into the leaf sheath and reach the apical shoot, causing the cessation of new leaf growth or the appearance of "dead heart" symptoms, which ultimately leads to a reduction in productivity.
