Mealybugs are sap-sucking pests with bodies covered in a white, flour-like waxy secretion. In addition to causing leaf yellowing and stunted growth, these pests excrete honeydew that triggers the growth of black sooty mold, which inhibits photosynthesis and reduces the aesthetic quality of the plant.
