Rice leaf folder
Further Information
Click to open/close
The rice leaf folder (Cnaphalocrocis medinalis) is a major insect pest affecting rice crops. The larvae cause damage by folding and rolling the leaf blades using silk threads and feeding on the green mesophyll tissue from inside the fold. This leaves transparent white streaks along the leaves, reducing photosynthetic capacity and hindering grain filling.
