Pod borers

Further Information

Click to open/close

Pod borers (Maruca testulalis and Etiella zinckenella) are major pests affecting legume crops such as long beans, mung beans, and soybeans. The larvae bore into young flower buds and pods to feed on developing seeds inside. Infestations cause perforated pods, frass accumulation, pod decay, and severe reductions in crop yield and quality.
