Sigatoka leaf spot (Mycosphaerella musicola) is a major fungal disease affecting banana plants by destroying foliage tissue. Infestation manifests as brown streaks and spots that expand into dry necrotic lesions with gray centers, reducing photosynthetic capacity and severely impacting fruit development and fill.
