Leaf spot disease (Cercospora spp. / Alternaria spp. / Septoria spp.) is a widespread fungal disease affecting various food, horticultural, and plantation crops such as chili, maize, and soybean. Infection is characterized by small, circular brown to black spots, often featuring a grayish center with a distinct chlorotic halo. Severe infections cause the lesions to coalesce, leading to leaf yellowing, desiccation, premature defoliation, and a significant reduction in photosynthetic capacity.
