Rice blast disease (Pyricularia oryzae) is a major fungal disease affecting rice crops. The pathogen attacks the leaves (leaf blast), forming characteristic diamond-shaped lesions with gray centers, as well as the panicle neck (neck blast), causing neck rot, lodging of panicles, and empty grains, which results in significant yield reduction.
