News Release: FMC Launches New Authority® Supreme Herbicide in U.S.

Dual-sites-of-action herbicide is especially effective on waterhemp, Palmer pigweed and other tough weeds.

PHILADELPHIA, March 5, 2018 – FMC Agricultural Solutions introduces Authority® Supreme herbicide, a new tool to combat resistant weeds, for the 2018 growing season. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has granted registration for Authority Supreme herbicide in soybeans, sunflowers and dry field peas.

Authority Supreme herbicide provides two effective sites of action to combat some of the toughest resistant weeds. The combination of a best-in-class Group 14 PPO herbicide with the newest Group 15 herbicide molecule enables long-lasting residual control of small-seeded broadleaf weeds and grasses. The new herbicide is effective against ALS, triazine, HPPD, ESPS (glyphosate) and PPO herbicide resistant weed biotypes.

It controls a wide spectrum of weeds including waterhemp, Palmer amaranth, pigweed, nightshade, lambsquarters, kochia, morningglories, smartweed, foxtail, barnyard grass and fall panicum.

“Authority Supreme herbicide is an excellent foundational herbicide for residual control of smallseeded broadleaf weeds and grasses,” says Godfrey Lue, FMC herbicide product manager. “It is the only premix of sulfentrazone and pyroxasulfone, two highly effective active ingredients against waterhemp and Palmer pigweed.” Research trials have shown excellent residual control of waterhemp and grasses.

“Whether growers already have resistant weeds or they are trying to avoid the development of resistant weeds, the best strategy is to start clean and stay clean. With multiple sites of action and excellent residual activity, Authority Supreme® herbicide reduces selection pressure and creates a window for timely postemergence treatments,” says Brent Neuberger, senior technical service manager for FMC.

Available in a convenient low-use-rate formulation, Authority Supreme herbicide is labeled for fall and spring preplant and preemergence applications, up to three days after planting. It can be used in LibertyLink®, Roundup Ready®, Roundup Ready 2 Xtend® and conventional soybeans as well as Clearfield®, ExpressSun®, conventional, oil and confectionary sunflowers. Authority Supreme herbicide is part of the FMC Freedom Pass Program, which includes application innovations, agronomic rewards, product financing and product assurances.
