The FMC Overlapping Residual Soybean Assurance Program is designed to encourage growers to use sound weed management by applying residual herbicides before soybean emergence and then follow with a second residual herbicide in combination with a postemergence (POST) herbicide before weeds reach 4-inches tall, within 30 days of soybean emergence.

Program Details

Growers who follow the FMC Overlapping Residual Soybean Herbicide Assurance recommendations at the minimum specified rate depending on use timing – see table below – will be eligible for an assurance payment up to $15.00/A if the treatment does not maintain commercially acceptable 90% control of labeled weeds versus an untreated check within 15 days after the early post application. The assurance funds are to be used toward a clean-up application to achieve acceptable weed control. The assurance claim must be reported within 15 days after the early post application. Spring preplant or preemergence applications must include labeled rates of Roundup® herbicide + 1.0 pt./A of 2,4-D or dicamba w/wo 1.0 fl. oz./A of Aim® EC herbicide to control emerged weeds. Follow all appropriate plant-back restrictions when using 2,4-D and dicamba products in soybeans according to labeling and soybean trait package.

1 Due to widespread glyphosate resistance in weeds, glyphosate must be tank mixed with other appropriate broadleaf herbicide(s) at full labeled rates to attain post weed control according to local recommendations. Glyphosate alone cannot be used as the only post herbicide program.

Some FMC products covered by this assurance program may not be approved for tank mixing with labeled over-the-top formulations of dicamba, Enlist One herbicide, or Enlist Duo herbicide at the time of this document publishing. Check appropriate tank-mix product websites for up-to-date list of approved tank-mix partners.

*Or equivalent glyphosate/glufosinate/dicamba brand at the label rate.
**A combination of Authority Supreme or Authority Edge herbicides followed by Anthem MAXX herbicide on medium or fine soils cannot exceed 0.186 pounds of pyroxasulfone active per acre in a year. See product label or FMC representative for full product use information.

  1. A grower must complete both parts of a two-pass weed control program specified above before assurance program/claim is in effect. If inadequate weed control is attained after the in-crop application is made, then FMC will investigate the claim.
  2. An authorized FMC representative must be notified of a claim within 15 days after the early post application is made, prior to the established deadline and have a reasonable opportunity to inspect prior to any additional product applications. The authorized FMC representative must confirm inadequate product performance.
  3. Assurance benefit is for product costs only. Application and other related costs are excluded from assurance payments.
  4. Leave a representative check strip in each field for comparison and mark its location.
