PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

FMC assures Anthem® Flex herbicide provides 80% reduction in henbit and chickweed population up to 45 days after application. Anthem Flex herbicide is an effective herbicide for the control of henbit and chickweed in fall-planted wheat when used according to label directions. Apply 2.5-4.5 ounces (see chart below) of Anthem Flex herbicide per acre as a delayed preemergence application to winter wheat. The delayed preemergence application timing is defined as 80% of planted wheat seed having a radical at least 0.5 inches long but prior to wheat spiking. This usually occurs three to five days after planting, but can vary widely depending on soil moisture and temperature.

FMC assures 80% henbit and chickweed control up to 45 days after application if the following conditions are met:

  • Wheat is planted into a weed-free seedbed with no henbit or chickweed germinated or present. Paraquat or other labeled and effective herbicide for these two weeds may be used to ensure no weeds are present at planting.
  • Anthem Flex herbicide is applied delayed preemergence as described above.
  • The correct label rate is applied according to soil texture. Reduced rates for the appropriate soil type should not be expected to provide adequate control and will be serviced accordingly.
  • At least 0.5 inches of rainfall and/or irrigation occurs within 10 days after application.
  • Grower must have an untreated check in order to determine level of henbit and chickweed weed control achieved.

In the event a grower does not achieve at least 80% control up to 45 days after application, FMC will pay up to $4.00/A toward the cost of a postemergence herbicide application of Harmony® Extra SG herbicide with TotalSol® soluble granules.

If ALS-resistant biotypes are present, Harmony Extra SG herbicide can be tank mixed with a herbicide with an effective mode of action for control of emerged weeds (2,4-D, dicamba, etc.)

To be eligible for a claim under this program, growers need to contact their FMC retail market manager or Star Retailer before making an application of the postemergence herbicide to clean up escaped weeds.
